My Review
That wonderful winter cover really makes you want to pick up this book and read it. As soon as I seen it I knew I would love it. From the very first chapter I found the book so warm and easy to read. Each page was just delightful.
I loved the story between Lexi and Cal, I was just willing them to get together. The perfect story, characters and location! A great festive read!
About the Author
Maxine has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember and wrote her first (very short) book for school when she was ten. Coming in first, she won a handful of book tokens - perfect for a bookworm! As years went by, she continued to write, but 'normal' work often got in the way. She has written articles on a variety of subjects, aswell as a book on Brighton for a Local History publisher. However, novels are what she loves writing the most. After self publishing her first novel when a contract fell through, thanks to the recession, she continued to look for opportunities. In August 2015, she won Harper Collins/Carina UK's 'Write Christmas' competition with her romantic comedy, 'Winter's Fairytale'. Maxine lives on the south coast of England, and when not wrangling with words loves to read sew and listen to podcasts. As she also likes cake she can also be found either walking or doing something vaguely physical at the gym.

My Q&A with Maxine Morrey
Of course, and thanks for having me on the blog today. I’m Maxine, and I live on the south coast of England, not too far from the city of Brighton. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, on and off, depending on what life was choosing to throw around at the time. In 2015, I won the ‘Write Christmas’ competition being run by what was then Carina, with the book that would become ‘Winter’s Fairytale’. Last year I followed that up with ‘The Christmas Project’ which I was thrilled to see really taking off, getting to number 11 on the overall Kindle chart. This year I have two Christmas books out – The Christmas Holiday, and the The Best Little ChristmasShop.
When I’m not writing, I love to read, listen to podcasts, and am getting back into sewing a little more which I find very therapeutic. I also quite like cake so tend to have to factor some sort of exercise in too.
2. What inspires you when writing a new book?
Honestly, anything can inspire you. The Christmas Project came about purely because I had been attempting to declutter my own house for ages and had just begun when family illness switched my focus. I knew how keen I was to try and get my house done (fyi, it’s still not done! 😉) but I began to wonder what would happen if someone was forced into having to do it and how that would affect both the house owner, as well as the professional brought in to do the job…
3. Wheres your favourite place to read?
On holiday! Ha ha! Unfortunately I wouldn’t get a whole lot of reading done if I limited it to that though so, in lieu of travels, I tend to settle for being snuggled up on the sofa under a Liberty quilt I made previously which is super cosy.
4. What's your favourite way to spend christmas?
Just quietly really. Unlike Lexi in The Best Little Christmas Shop, I don’t have a large family – we’re all rather displaced around the world so to me, it’s lovely just to be able to get up when you feel like it, have no schedule or must do’s, and just relax doing whatever you want, whenever you want.
5. Finally whats been your favourite book this year?
Gosh, that’s a hard one – I’ve read quite a few I’ve really loved and have a tonne more to read in the pile (both physical and digital!) Am I allowed two? For festive treats, it would have to be Sarah Morgan’s ‘Moonlight Over
Manhattan’ – Harriet is probably my favourite heroine from this series so far. In the non-Christmas category, I think it will have to be ‘The Many Colours of Us’ by Rachel Burton. It’s a beautifully written debut novel and was so atmospheric and encompassing.
